A visit to Cherai beach in Kerala

We had a memorable visit to Cherai to add mirth to the summer vacation. Though we make it always when we reach our native place, Cherai seems evergreen with rare, natural, picturesque beauty. Cherai beach is an exemplary spot that is a blend of backwaters and beach. The way to reach this tourist spot from my native home itself is quite engaging; palm fringed trees, lagoons and backwaters with aquatic birds really create a rich fiesta for the nature lovers to lure.

Cherai beach is situated in the Arabian Sea, Vypin Island, Kochi, about 6km from North Paravur, my home town. It is also the Gateway of Muziris, the heritage capital of Kerala. Several tourists from Western countries reach Cherai beach and stay for weeks to enjoy holidays that is just 25km away from Kochi International Airport. Cherai beach resorts arrange a lovely vista of sunrise occuring in backwaters and sunset in the beach that gets blanketed with golden rays.

We went to Cherai beach yesterday evening with my sister and her family. The kid was head over heels in joy when waves stuck him. He played with his niece in waves for a longer time until it was dark. We returned back home with a mind teemed with what nature gifted us in Cherai beach.

  2. Very beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing. Cherai Beach, a picturesque beach, located on the north-end of the Vypeen Island is ideal for swimming. Lined with luscious green coconut groves and paddy fields, this sandy beach is a unique combination of the sea and the backwaters, studded with seashells of various hues and shapes.
